REFLECTION TASK 3

ARDA TURAN

    Arda Turan was born on 30 January 1987 in Bayrampaşa, İstanbul. He started to play football with his friends at the streets when he was a child. He attended to auditions for Galatasaray in 2000 and started to play in Galatasaray's youth setup. He has 17 goals for 56 league matches during this term. For a short time, he played for Vestel Manisaspor.In 2005-2006 seasons, Turan scored two goals for the team based in Manisa.Later, he was recalled for the start of the following 2006-2007 seasons.Arda's most important performance was the goal that he scored at the Switzerland-Turkey match in 11 June 2008. It was the winning goal for Turkey. On 10 July 2009, he became the captain of Galatasaray after his achievements. In 2011-12 seasons, it was announced that Turan would be joining Atletico Madrid. While he was playing in Atletico, he scored a goal at the match that was played with Juventus and his team won the match thanks to his goal. After the match, he was chosen as "The Man of The Match" by UEFA. On 6 July 2015, FC Barcelona announced the signing of the Turan from Atletico Madrid. The contract will run for five seasons.
    After this success story, if I were a jury member, I would definitely choose Arda Turan as the person of the year. First of all, he started to his dream at a very young age and he struggled for his football life. Secondly, I think that he never forgot his country, where his football life started and he learned everthing about football. Lastly, he was so confident that he always thought to play at British League. He realized his dreams and he became a successful football player. All in all, he is very successful and his success is rising day by day.

REFLECTION TASK 2B

HARRY POTTER

    Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels written by British author J.K. Rowling, but I am not going to tell novels. I would like to tell you Harry Potter movies. Actually, I think that novels and movies of Harry Potter are nearly same. Harry Potter  series consist of eight films which are Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I (2010) and Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows II (2011). The series tell us the life of the most important wizard, Harry Potter, and his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Harry lives with his aunt and uncle because of his father and mother’s death, but they do not love him. One day, a letter comes from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for Harry. These three best friends meet on the road of school. The main idea of the films is the struggle of Harry Potter against the dark wizard Lord Voldemort. Lord Voldemort wants to be immortal, so he tries to kill Harry. In the films, there is a man who is the headmaster of the school. He is Dumbledore and he helps and gives advices to Harry.

   The directors of the films are Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuaron, Mike Newell and David Yates. I believe that the perspectives of the directors are so helpful and optimistic for Harry. They are usually on the goods’ side. If I were them, I also would use the same perspectives.  When I was watching these films, I was really enjoyed. Some scenes were so breathtaking, especially wars between Potter and Voldemort. The good people did not always win because I could not forget the scene that was the death of Dumbledore. I felt really sad since I didn’t expect that. I love this film so much that I almost watch each film two times and I am never bored. Due to all these reasons, I support the perspectives of directors. They both tell events clearly, emotionally and give a social message “The Goods Win and Evil Does Not Give You Anything”. No matter how much people compare Harry Potter and The Lord of The Rings, I still love Harry Potter films much more.

REFLECTION TASK 2A

     I would like to write about connection between technology and society. I think that it is really important issue in our day. Technology has many effects on the society. These effects are both negative and positive. First of all, the impact of technology on our social, mental, physical health is so devastating if we cannot control ourselves. For example, we isolate ourselves from social life. We do not interact with other people and our friends. Moreover, we meet new people via social media such as facebook, twitter and instagram. We meet with our friends face to face much less frequency. Thus, we cannot understand the feelings of the people exactly. Secondly, it affects our physical health negatively. To illustrate, if we constantly sit in front of the computer, our neck starts to pain. Additionally, the eyestrain can cause headaches, blurred vision and migraine. I do not think the problem is only about computers, it is also about other technological devices. For instance, people who listen to music highly with ear buds can have disability with the hearing. Thirdly, it influences our mental health. We always face with problems that are related to our mental nowadays because of the technological devices. To exemplify, people who spend a long time with these devices especially mobile phones and computers can have poor sleep habits, for they do not sleep enough at night. Thus, they are too stressful, sleepy and careless to environment and people around them. They expose to too much radiation. Although there are too many disadvantages of technology, there are also some advantages. Firstly, people can reach information more easily. They can search something that they cannot find at libraries. Secondly, I want to give an example from in my department. When I become an English teacher, I can use the technology in my lessons positively. For example, I can prepare vocabulary games for my students, so they learn by having fun and do not forget easily. All in all, I chose this important issue to tell because I and the whole world face with these problems every day. I want to inform people about the problems of the today and future.

6. Frank decided to join a fitness center because his son persisted and he wanted to lose 10 pounds.

10. This is a combination of vitamins that build up the immune system and prevent infection from spreading.

MEGAMIND

1. Mr. Goody was adopted by the presidential family but Megamind was adopted by the prisoners.
2. Mr. Goddy had life handed to him on a silver platter, however, Megamind was taught the difference between right and wrong by the prisoners.
3. Mr. Goody had the power of flight, invulnerability and great hair, in contrast Megamind had his amazing intellect.
4. Mr. Goody had already amassed an a gigantic army of soft-headed groupies while Megamind was given an opportunity to better himself.
5. Megamind is sent to quiet time in the corner, on the other hand, Mr. Goody receives all the praise, adulation.
6. Though Megamind was destined to be a super villain, Mr. Goody was destined to be Megamind's rival.
